New COVID 19 Attendance Codes for Welsh Government

Please see below information about the addition of 2 new temporary attendance codes for Wales. These are similar to previous notifications for England. Contact partner support if required for further information.

Added 26/10/2020 at 12:15 Provision of attendance codes for Covid 19 - Patch 26116 (Not yet available)

In line with the latest version of CBDS, we will provide database patch 26116 to make two new temporary codes available for use on attendance registers from 02/11/2020 to 31/08/2021 (inclusive).  Once the patch has been applied, temporary attendance codes ';' and '[' will be available for selection throughout the attendance application.  The example below, illustrates the expanded list of codes available for Take Register, but you will find that this is typical of the list provided for selection in other areas of SIMS.

Welsh Attendance Codes for COVID-19

Overview of the changes made by the patch (for those with a more technical interest)

  1. Adds temporary attendance code ';' with a description of 'Illness due to Covid 19' for use from 02/10/2020 to 31/08/2021 (inclusive).  The WG may change the end date in the future, in which case a further patch will be required.
  2. Maps temporary attendance code ';' to permanent attendance code 'I', with ';' inheriting the statistical meaning of 'Authorised Absence' and the physical meaning of 'Out for whole session'.
  3. Sets temporary attendance code ';' to 'Basic' in Tools | Setups | Attendance Setup | Codes | Maintain Codes, so that this temporary codes is available for take register and edit marks for users with 'Class Teacher' permission as well as those with 'Attendance Operator' and/or 'Attendance Manager' permission.  Schools can remove 'Class Teacher' permission by clicking on the ';' row and replacing 'Basic' with '...'.
  4. Modifies Routines | Data Out | Export CTF to use the mapping for temporary code ';' to report the statistic meaning of permanent code 'I', i.e. 'Authorised Absence'.
  5. Modifies the interface with the Teacher App to take account of temporary code ';' and its mapping to permanent code 'I'.
  6. Adds temporary attendance code '[' with a description of 'Remote learning due to Covid 19' for use from 02/10/2020 to 31/08/2021 (inclusive).  The WG may change the end date in the future, in which case a further patch will be required.
  7. Maps temporary attendance code '[' to permanent attendance code 'X', with '[' inheriting the statistical meaning of 'Attendance not required' and the physical meaning of 'Out for whole session'.
  8.
