Advisory - Changes to Hosted SIMS Third Party Connectors

We are sending the following communication on 21/03/2019 to our hosted schools which requires them to take action by 15/04/2019 if they are to avoid a break in service for partner applications hosted on their third party connector.  Partners who believe that they are impacted by the change should in the first instance ask the school to check that they have complied with the guidance below and if they are unable to resolve any issues themselves the school should contact their SIMS Support Unit.

 

Dear Hosted SIMS User,

 

As part of our maintenance and security programme we have identified the need for you to take action on a software upgrade, specifically the Open VPN client software which is used to support your connectivity to SIMS. The OpenVPN client software would have been installed as part of the Hosted SIMS implementation on the 3rd Party Connector computer at your school.

 

The 3rd Party Connector computer is used by one or more third party products to exchange data with your SIMS and/or FMS solution. Your IT Support team will need to check the version of the OpenVPN Client and if it is not on the latest version it will need to be upgraded by 15th April. Here is the link ************ to a guide intended for your IT support team which explains the change required and the instructions to upgrade the OpenVPN client (if you are not already on the latest version).

 

Please note that the software upgrade to your OpenVPN client is required by 15th April after which the third-party connector will stop working until upgraded.
